About me

Hello! I am an instructor for the radiography program at ACC in Anaheim.

I began my teaching career as an elementary school teacher, and I have 20+ years of education experience. I have taught all grades, but my last class was a group of 60 kindergarteners. Talk about controlled chaos! I also taught adult literacy through the Corona Library where I was overjoyed to see my adult students learn to read. Imagine how rewarding that was!

In 2006, I lived in Florence, Italy and when I returned to the US, I decided to take a career turn and enrolled in the radiography program at Chaffey College. I then worked as an x-ray technologist at RUHS Trauma Hospital in Moreno Valley. Eventually, I began working with new radiography students at the clinical site and that’s where my passion emerged. Now, I am thrilled to say, that I am an experienced instructor of radiography. I love to be involved in forwarding my discipline and influencing the next generation of great x-ray technologists!

I also have personal interests, of course. In addition to taking music and art courses at my community college, I am the creator and front woman for an 80’s band called Crazy80sRemoteControl. We play all over the Inland Empire and will soon be at The House of Blues in Anaheim! I also have my own photography business, specializing in pet portraiture.

Activity

The success or failure of students is directly related to the type of modeling an instructor uses.

As an experienced teacher as well as an experienced adult learner, it is very important to encourage "belongingness" to adult students. Many times, the nontraditional learner feels out of place. By reinforcing their decision to be an adult learner, you greatly help with retention.

In addition, as an instructor, it is of the utmost importance to get to know your students. Learning what their prior life experiences are helps connect your academic goals to their life goals and helps relate the new learning with their current knowledge and understanding.
