Safety is taught first, then reinforced many times daily.

The grading rubric is a valuable tool to use in competency based education.

Teaching and learning in a lab setting is quite different from teaching and learning in a classroom.  In a lab, hands-on learners will benefit from the demonstrations offered.

It is important to use Bloom's taxonomy to relate cognitive concepts to affective concepts using hands-on learning.

Relationship building is paramount.

Relationship building is paramount.  If there is no relationship, students are not invested in the course or the teacher.

I like the idea of getting students invested in classroom management by using peer pressure to keep inattentive students from becoming a problem.  Sometimes, encouragement or accountability from peers works .  

I plan to enhance my syllabus with the information I have learned within this topic.  Items such as reminders for due dates and a clearer definition regarding class expectations and accepted practices will be helpful to add.  I also plan to define "wiifm" in every concept.
