Asynchronus discussions are a most if the teacher wants full participation from the students. Knowing the difference between asynchronus and synchronous was very helpful.

I learned that it's important to establish a rapport with the students from the beginning. Also, it's important for the students to get to know each other and to interact with each other.  I also learned that during discussion boards it's important for the teacher to also list their perspective or answer to the questions and to admit to the students when I don't know the answer, but assure them that an answer will be found.

It is important for the instructor to be able to use the technology effectively.  For example, how to use the discussion board, respond to students, and grade book. I would incorporate a orientation before the class begins so that expectations and procedures can be put in place before the class starts.

The most important thing is to communicate effectively and to provide feedback in a timely manner and of course the importance of using rubrics.

Students must be self-motivated (which can be difficult for students especially teenagers who may also be working), self-disciplines (they must know when to complete assignments and know when to ask for help), able to manage their time (this can be hard because they are teenagers and some still have a hard time managing their social life and school) , and my competent in computer skills (like attaching files, using word) and they must also be team players.

I have learned to always establish rules and consequences for E-learning.  Students have to understand that even thought they are using online tools they are still consequences and etiquette for completing online activities.  Also, that I must have specific hours of availability so that students can ask questions and receive answers in a timely manner.

I'ts important to make sure the tool you use is beneficial and easy to use for the students.  Also, they mention Facebook as a platfrom and many of our high school students don't use this platform because they think it's for old people (LOL) so using this platform may not be the best idea for them.
