It is important for the on-campus internship supervisor to have an open line of communication with both the intern and the employing supervisor. Although limitations on time and travel make it difficult to conduct regular on-site visits, efforts should be taken to ensure that expectations for the experience are being satisfactorily met.

Throughout the internship, the intern should be provided with a variety of experiences in order to expose him or her to as many aspects of the organization as possible. This will not only provide the intern with a breadth of experiences, but also help determine the role to which he or she is best suited, should the organization decide to offer full-time employment.
