I like discussing career goals with students to ensure they are realistic and obtainable. It was also brought to my attention that some students do not have support systems other than school.

Using someone's name has value, so put effort into learning them. A good way to do this is have the students sit in the same seats for the first few class sessions. This makes learning names easier.

Don't rush the first day because that sets the tone for the rest of the course.

I liked the breakdown of syllabus requirements. When viewed as a contract between instructor and learner, the value increases exponentially. 

The most impactful thing I learned/realized was that I am not the smartest person in the room. I like the humbleness of the idea, and it keeps me grounded.

I want my learners to succeed.
