Activity

There are so many ways to engage the students.  I really like the ideas of creating fun challenges as groups without getting competitive to a fault.

Every student that walks into class is carrying so much into that room. ... unique experiences, worries, doubts, wit, perspective.  It is so important to remember that when I am working to motivate, encourage and draw out the best from them!

The lecture in 10-15min blocks of time and the fact that demonstrations should be 5 to 7 steps at a time was very informative!

I really liked the index cards idea where you are able to connect with each student.  I have seen in the past how students appreciate when a teacher relates what they are teaching to real-world experience.

Importance of laying out goals, expectations, grading, etc. with the syllabus.  Also, the usefulness of checklists to make sure I don't miss anything if the flow of class is interrupted.

There is always more to learn when teaching no matter year one or thirty!  I appreciated how the course helps to show the balance of caring for your students while also keeping authority as the teacher (5 C's).
