I've learned that with department goals, it is stressful on all.  Burnout is easy to happen, and affects team members differently.  Having meetings to talk about goals and share opinions on how to get there fosters team moral.  Setting small goals helps with stress relief.

Although there are a lot of things available to students, these tools will not help support their success in their education if they are not used.  A big thing is to not only show the students these resources provided once, but to make sure that they are shown repeatedly for when assignments are given.  This helps their chances of success on assignments.

Intervention is important for the students.  A review of the students academics, skills, or attendance will create an opening to talk about things that are bothering the student.  Another thing is it would give the student an opportunity for feedback on where they need help.

Student stress can come from many factors.  The type of stress they are dealing with can affect them physically.  Stress is not just a feeling, it can cause physical ailments.  Speaking with students to try to support them when stressed can help to improve their experience.  Often their stress can be from managing academics with outside life responsibilities.

That students who come to secondary schools can often be the first of their family.  They do not have any role models and while they are struggling outside of school it may be hard for them to seek help from their family.  Student retention is a job for everyone at the school.  Reaching out to students when they are seen struggling is the first step.  When students decide to withdraw it is often difficult for them to do to admit that they cannot make it at that time.
