Shayan, Great sentiments, and I believe that sharing performance staus is as integral to the successful completion of a course as is the delivery and presentation of course content. Students need direction and sometimes some on-course correction can make the difference between success or less than optimal results in a class. I also believe personal discussions are more beneficial than electronic or written documentation. Barry Westling
Shayan, Great perspective on the benefit, usefulness, and effectiveness of using pretesting in a class or classes. Barry Westling
Shayan, From an employer standpoint, a graduate who is well versed in socio-civic-community activities but can't perform basic job duries safely is not employable. Probably there is a balance. Most accredited schools (associate and bachelor degree level) require a commensurate liberal arts component to their vocational training component for graduation, adhering to your notion that a well rounded individual will be a better employee. Barry Westling
Chelsea, This sounds good. I also think students do not perform to their optimal level because they don't understand just a few key components. By discussion with them, we can point out where attention is needed and provide explanation to assure everyone is on the same page regarding expectations. Barry Westling
Jacalynn, When I meet with students, I want them them to feel I am supporting them and am willing to offer assistance in any way I can. This helps encourage them and gives hope for successful outcomes. Barry Westling
Chelsea, I think consideration of all these factors and others contribute to the overall performance of students. Barry Westling
Chelsea, It's interesting how much instruction involving the senses leads to long term learning outcomes. It shows you how important involving the senses in class really is. Barry Westling
Titilola, We all teach to our strengths and over time we can work on making improvements in our weaker areas. One key is to be cognizant of the need for improvement. Barry Westling
Shayan, When organized, instructors can more effectively put their focus on the more important aspects of their job while routine administrative tasks will be taken care in a more appropriate fashion. Barry Westling
Chelsea, Yes. It's our job, and students will give respect and lose trust in instructors who consistently fail to ready themselves properly. Barry Westling
