Activity

Critical thinking is an advanced ability. It is important to aid students in finding their own ability to be critical thinkers. This is vital in active learning.

F2F and online learning are similar; however, they are different enough that the course needs to be transformed into a different format. The approach to online learning is also very unique and takes a different mindset.

It is important to reflect on the effectiveness of the course. This is performed through multiple evaluations from different sources.

I would love to incorporate active learning; however, I do have some hesitation on giving up control of class material. I would like to start incorporating some low risk active learning and quickly work my way up : )

Participation from students is critical for online engagement to work effectively. It may be difficult to get students to participate so we need to determine motivation for this to work.

We also need to continuously evaluate feedback to adjust courses.

I believe there can be both synchronous and asynchronous componenets to a course. However, as the course proceeds, the course may need to be altered.

Having to rely on technology is scary. I understand that a backup plan is a must, but I have a difficult time figuring out what that might be. Any suggestions?

Online learning is difficult and keeping the attention of the students is sometimes challenging. I intend on incorporating active learning by creating group activities, focusing on reflective tasks and being more of a guide than an instructor.

We need to continuously receive feedback from our students in order to know what is or is not working. Technology tools can be great tools, but they can also be used in the incorrect method.

Rubrics are a great tool for the students to truly understand expectations. I love the peer review because it allows the student to be able to judge their own paper more effectively.
