I disagree. The tipping point will be unique for each student, each situation. Faculty needs to be empowered to make decisions based on the sucess of the student, and the institution needs to back up the decisions of those they hire, or re-examine their hiring practices.

Nothing official, other than if you have a behavior problem you can't handle, send them to the dean. So I asked, where is the threashold, the tipping point. No official policy.

So when do you know to refer the student to a higher authority? Bill Adriance
Free coffee, lots of breaks and lots of hands on and group work; I teach computer networking. Bill

In providing activities for students to get to know each other, one must be careful not to require too much personal information. In today's environment, that could be embarrassing for some, any comments? Bill Adriance
When instructing adults, who work full time jobs, the attention span fluxuates during evening classes. I find it necessary to vary activities from lecture to lab to group project, etc., to keep them going until class is dismissed. Anyone have input along these lines?
