Yes, I think motivation is so important.  It is hard to accomplish with students who are busy with their appearance and their texting and such...so I think it is one of the challenges, but if you are enthusiastic and show that you care to have them learn it they come around.  Orcourse there is always a few clowns in the class, but if you can humor them along---great, if not they can take up class time.  I like to involve them in discussions, so that they break the ice with me and with eachother...and usually the offering of day to… >>>

Are there any books that you particularly find interesting; regarding the different learning styles and different approaches to lesson planning?

I am particularly interested in understanding the psychology of why students act out, and what types of remediations work [other than carrots and sticks].  

How do you inspire a student who hardly takes themselves seriously [they really do not know their own self worth?  believe that what they do matters?]  etc...

I know that this is true; as I see this in my own studies.  I must remember to reiterate this to my students, when they complain that there are too many notes... i did do that at one time, and only one student enthusiastically agreed; and furthering her point by saying it's the way she studies [rewriting so that the information sticks].

That's interesting to hear that it crosses age; which I would have thought to be a barrier.  what do you teach?

I have trouble with "hecklers"...I often have a few who like to challenge me; partly because I'm substituting, and partly because of my smaller build.  I always have to prove that I'm not a push over, and I hate to do the carrots & sticks thing.  I always try to be interesting; inject current events or annecdotes from life, but I always have trouble with the few who take this as their personal challenge to derail me....sandbagging the class;… >>>
