This module emphasized that a strong marketing plan is essential—but so is regularly evaluating its effectiveness and spend. Strategies should evolve with the market. I found it especially insightful that many colleges allocate around 10% of tuition toward student acquisition costs, including admissions staff time allocated to CAC, which is a useful benchmark moving forward.

This module highlighted the value of a clear organizational chart—even in smaller schools where roles often overlap. It’s a useful tool for staff and students to understand roles and responsibilities. I also found the idea of comparing staff-created org charts insightful. The module reinforced the importance of a student library—not just for academic resources but also career development—and the need to plan for space or explore nearby options. Lastly, the concept of an advisory board stood out as a valuable source of external guidance and support.

This module emphasized the importance of setting clear expectations through proper orientation and ongoing student support. I’ll apply this by ensuring students have a realistic understanding of the program from day one, feel supported throughout, and have opportunities to build community—since a sense of belonging is closely tied to student success.

This module reinforced that five-year planning is most effective when it's a collaborative process. I plan to involve a diverse team—including admin, instructors, students, alumni, and external advisors—to help shape a clear and realistic path forward. A key takeaway is the need to assess our current program offerings and identify new opportunities we can realistically launch within five years, supported by enrollment projections and a financial forecast. As we aim to grow our student body, space planning will also be essential—especially for in-person programs.
