Activity

I agree being involved in community networking is important. I also believe in showing appreciation to the employers whom have hired our students and participated in Professional Advisory Committee Meetings.

It important for all departments to realize the role they play in assisting students to gain employment and that it is not just on Career Placement. Career Placement wear many hats and it can become overwhelming at times and it's important for the organization to realize how under staff this department is.

I learned doing a follow up with employers is very important.

I loved the information that was given to show me how to help students understand the need for Cover Letters, and how to properly write one.

I learned that the design of the resume is important and also the type of resume needs to be specific to the graduate. When doing workshops I will be able to implement the rule of thumb check, and make sure students unberstand the quadrant setup on a resume.

Social media presence is very important. Students should be aware of what they are posting.

Love this module because I feel this very important when students get to the point of deciding their career options to inform them of how they act on social media can damage their reputation. Teaching them how to rebuild their reputation is key and helpful for them to gain employment. I was able to use the link provided in the search to get results of my social media reputation and its a great tool for the students to use.

The SEO keyword search was very informational. Helping the graduates to market themselves and students can see how they are found by recruiters. Traditional Career Marketing is something we all have to learn even as a Career Advisor.

Many changes in the hiring process when it comes to screening applicants. Applicants need to keep in mind that their social media plays a major role even if they feel it shouldn't. Learning to accept the change to obtain a job is the biggest thing for graduates.

I learned it is important to keep track of graduates progress after job place. I also learned having a relationship with the graduate and employer is important and I should continue to engage with them.
