It's important for the instructor to have the students participate in activities that will allow the students to get to know each other. This also gives the instructor the opportunity to learn about the students.

It's important to have a well developed syllabus for the success of not only the students learning but to help the instructor with being successful during the instruction. 

Being an instructor has multiple roles under that umbrella. It is important to be a model for the students, to follow the "5-Cs" and to also be a motivator for your students. Learning can be an arduous task for some students, and it is important to show them the progress they have made thus far in their education and to give them to drive to continue.
