I have learned the importance of being familiar with TIX to stay in compliance with federal laws at my school. 

Having students and staff understand policies of sexual harrassment, violence, and crime on and off campus is imperative as well as them knowing where to seek assistance.

It is encouraged that all offenses be reported to the police, however if a student or staff doesn't feel comfortable; all offenses whether they happened on or off campuses should be investigated. 

The Title IX Coordinator's responsiblities is to be known by students, faculty and staff and to provide training, conduct climate surveys, process requests for confidentiality, maintain records, modify and increase safety measures and policies when needed, and to continually review the effectiveness of these policies to students and staff.

Title IX is designed to protect students, employees, or anyone from being discriminated against based on sexual and gender identity.  As a financial aid officer it is my duty to implement and follow this law to ensure that I'm offering services to all students without any discrimination.
