I find that tone is important in asking questions. If a student feels intimidated by a perceived tone of the instructor, you may not get the participation you want. I guess, this is where rapport is important.

Is there a difference between scaffolding and learning chains?

Blending learning styles may take imagination and planning. However, I think I can accomplish it by starting with small projects.

 

You may not be able to incorporate all the learning styles in one setting. Try using at least two. For Kinesthetic learners, doing online searches work best.

Approaching students who do not participate often should be handled with care. If you are not careful it can blow up in your face. It happened to me. The student was offended that I noticed.

Motivation to key to student success. Knowing why they are doing a certain project or case study will motivate them to complete it. Ah ha moments are really not moments. They are ponits when the realization of events over the course of the course makes sense.

 

Be geniune with students. They tend to pick up and subtle clues of how you really feal.

 

I have considered the opportunity to lighten up in class. I believe this allows students to be normal and not try to confirm to a preconcieved idea of who I think they are, who I am or even their classmates.

 

I found this video very helpful. I have often felt unfulfilled when I don't complete a lesson I planned. Now I am able to make adjustments and be more flexible. The process acts as an assessment for the present class and a guideline for the next.
