There are more non-traditional students than traditioinal.  On line classes tend to attract students with busy lives.  Need to gear up for the adult learner type.

Keeping communication on a positive note.  Helps build rapport and trust.

Communicating with students through technology is quite different from face to face interactions.  Keeping students engaged will be a new challenge.

Univeral Design may not work for every online course component or for every online student with a disability.  We need to build important guidelines for ourself to follow.

I learned that online instructors are responsible for making sure that all course materials are in compliance with federal regulations.  I will take notice to make sure I have the documents accessible in the beginning of my course.

Online instructors must understand what is expected from students with disibilities.  I will be proactive.

on line teaching  doesn't always give you a clear advantage point of knowing what students will have learning disabilities.  Building your curriculum to accommodate these students whether they are in your class  or not will strengthen you as an online instructor.

Evaluation a very important part of the on line teaching aspect.  I have learned that there are many tools that need to be implemented in this process.

Feedback is essential in the learning experience.  It will immediately relay what is of concern and what is correct.  Also, using a Rubric is a way for students to readily assess their progress and understanding what has been taught, and show their progress.

Detailed instruction is key to the success of learning on-line.  I will implement the scaffolding technique to insure that my students will have the structure to focus for student actiivities and to build upon their prior knowlege and experiences.
