I learned that it is important to provide feedback to students in order to keep them engaged. 

I learned that being an online instructor that you need to be active and a support system. I also learned that you need to get know students just the way you would in a class setting. I would set up live video meeting that students can join and we can talk about any question or struggles that they may have. 

I have been an online student and I can tell you that one of the most frustrating thing is when you email your instructor during office hours you sometimes don't get a response for a week. 

One thing I will do is always be available to students during office hours and I will reassure them that they can count on me to be their support system.

If I have a student that has either PTSD or TBI or both, how can I help them and what's the best approach?

In this unit, I learned that as an instructor it is my job to make sure that they are comfortable and to be a support system for them.

When someone registers for courses, they are asked if they have any disabilities. Students with any disabilities have an IEP created in order to help the instructor know the type of DX and best learning techniques that could help them. 

If I witness a student struggling to understand the material and I see that there are some triggers. I will work with this student and help them over come the learning curve.

In this module I learn that PTSD can come in any form at any age if someone goes through a traumatic event in their life time. My goal is to become a support system for those students that have PTSD. I will have more one-on-ones with this student to just check in and see how things are going them. 

When dealing with a challenging student I would remain calm and hear them out. But I would have a one-on-one conversation with them in order to avoid any class distribution.

I learned to not expect perfection on my first- time teaching. I am human and I learn what will needs to adjust in order to keep the students engaged.
