What I learned from this course is that emailing students personally is very important. It helps mitigate misunderstandings, supports including all students, and supports interest in your course. 

The biggest take away for me was to provide feedback to students as well as request it in return. I plan on emailing my students individually periodically to check-in on how their course is going for them and for any feedback they have for me.

I learned that the best way to make students in an online course feel welcome is to have them complete a personal bio of themselves. I intended to use this as a first-day assignment. 

What I have gained from this lesson is that online learning is more than just providing click-and-read assignments. The more brain-power and higher quality media provided, the more learning that is done.
