Learning the difference between asynchronous and synchronous discussions are very important. Asynchronous is great to reach all students in the course; synchronous is better for one on one interactions between instructor and student.

Being able to be more interactive and interpersonal with the students that way the students feel involved on an online class.

I have learned it is important to know and be familiar with the online platform you will be teaching on, and having as much technical efficency as possible. Also learned how much organization and communication is needed for an online class compared to an in person class.

to try and deliver different types of learning styles and approaches when teaching; that way more students are accommodated.

It is important for the students to get to know you and you get to know the students in the beginning of a course, so everyone feels a sense of comfort and familiarity with one another.

it is important to keep a checklist of what you want to cover in each lecture or class; that way you stay organized.

I learned it is very important to set a good example for your students. Modeling professionalism especially. Showing up on time, being organized, calm and collected at all times you are in the classroom. Then also paying attention to your student's needs/questions.
