I was really struck by the "rule of reciprocity" - I never considered the transactional nature of an initial meeting or attempt to contact a student before. Very valuable.

Students are busy, but when they talk to AO's, they want their undivided attention. 

It is essential that we are calculated in the way we structure not only each student interaction, but also the ways in which we structure our daily approach to student interaction. we need to build rapport, know our clients, and focus soley on them when in order to build rapport.

The admissions model has not changed for many many years, however the students that are currently being served are learning in ways that are very different from the current admissions moded. It is important that AO's adjust their methods to and practices to meet the students in a way that best makes sense to them. It is not good practice to assume that they are not already familliar, because they have most likely done their research.
