Activity

It seems like students have shorter attention spans now, especially with how often they use phones and social media.  How are you keeping them focused during class or online lessons?

I learned that student retention is closely tied to how engaged faculty are with their students.  When students have consistent, meaningful, and positive interactions with faculty and staff, they are more likely to persist i their education.  I also realized that students shouldn't be viewed as customers; instead, the role of educators is more like that of healthcare professionals focused on guiding and supporting students toward success.

Online learning is not a traditional learning environment but it's my responsibility to maintain engagement and communication.  However, that may be is my job.

This module showed me that online instructors help reduce student attrition by addressing feelings of isolation through personal outreach and by offering support with time management and workload.  I plan to apply this by closely monitoring student participation and reaching out to those who seem less engaged.

The relationship between 

Preparation is key, not only for successful and affective teaching but it's also noticeable by the students.  As instructors we owe that extra preparation if you're not confident in the material.

preparation and flexibility are paramount for an affective instructor.

Planning and preparation = effective and efficient learning.
