At our school, there are two different departments involved with authorizing and disbursing funds to students. This allows for separtion of duties and helps prevent anyone tempted to make a wrong decision.

I am in the academic department, so when a student meets with me to discuss withdrawing, I always have them sit with someone in Financial Aid to make sure that they complete the Exit counseling before the withdrawal is complete.

I am in the academic department of my school and I receive numerous phone calls from family member of our students. When someone calls that is not the student, I check their file for a Family Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) form where the student has given me authorization for me to speak with certain people. If the caller is on the form, they must be able to identify some personal information about the student before I can discuss any academic information concerning the student. I do this with every non-student that calls.

I am a very impulsive person and I have found that making rash decisons have often lead to bad results. It is much better to not jump into a decision and wait until you have as much information as you can before deciding what to do.

I find going to the spa to pamper myself is a great way for me to reduce my stress.
