Most of what teachers are afraid of won't happen. Establish respect and rapport with your students early on and don't be scared to admit if/when you don't know something.

There are so many different types of students and different ways in which they learn and behave. if there are any issues, I think a good "blanket" rule that I learned is to genuinely listen. Try to hear and understand their point of view and go from there.

Knowing what students are likely to have the biggest problems paying attention is helpful. Being able to predict WHY they are having a hard time paying attention is even more helpful. I think this module did a great job teaching that you have to treat everyone fairly and equally, but that doesn't mean the "same". Different students have different needs.

I really liked how it stressed the importance of a syllabus and setting expectations for the class, both what I expect of the students and what they can expect from me, the lectures, the responsibilities outside of class, etc. The syllabus is a "road map" for the students who often are nervous, especially at the beginning of the term.
