The importance of flexibility & relationship building in from a distance.  Students still need support, encouragement, feedback, and a sense of belonging in order to stay motivated and engaged.

I was reminded of the importance of listening with intention, providing meaningful feedback & using the coaching framework of GROW.  The framework will help students identify goals, evaluate their current reality, explore options & create a plan moving forward

The biggest take away from this module is the importance of communication & trust in the coaching process.  Students are more likely to grow & succeed when they feel supported & heard.  Connecting classroom learning to the real world career experiences is another way to help them learn & develop skills that they will use outside the classroom

This module reinforces the importance of career coaching as more than just simply helping students find job placements, but involves building relationships, helping students identify their strengths & interests. Career coaches also help set realistic goals & guiding them in developing workplace ready skills

This module helped strengthen my understanding of the importance of structured WBL components.  Each one is an important piece in creating experiences that will help students build both technical & employability skills.   Moving forward I will work to strengthen communication, provide clear orientation materials & expectations.  In doing so this will help create more successful partnerships & better experiences for the students

This module looks at the role of the WBL coordinator, it goes beyond the placing students in workplace. The coordinator helps prepare students with employability skills, maintaining communications with employers, monitoring student progress, and ensuring experiences align with the career pathways.   I will continue to embed employability skills,  communication  and career readiness into classroom projects and hands on learning experiences.

this module I learned that work based learning gives students real world applications. Students are more engaged when they can see how what they are learning applies outside of school.  Work based learning can bridge between education and future careers. I will continue to plan to start with activities that are accessible to all the students.  More hands on activities tied to industry standards and involving our stakeholders more.

One of the things I have learned about work based learning, it gives students something a textbook alone can not, real world application.  I have learned that work based learning also helps students build confidence.   The students who struggle in a traditional classroom setting thrive when they are given hands on responsibilities, opportunities to interact with professionals or experiences connected to the careers they are interested in.  I will continue to encourage students to take ownership of their learning , build professionalism & understand that the skills they develop now that will benefit them beyond the classroom

I will work this summer to integrate WBL experiences into the required course work as I build my lesson plans for the coming year.  I will be intentional in providing multiple entry points & flexible formats - in-school, virtual & community based.  As well as build partnerships with local business & organizations to expand their opportunities.

Comment on Brady Brooks's post:  I have 7-12 so utilizing different learning styles as well as engaging them to discover their interests has been a challenge.  But as the year draws to an end, I am seeing the engagement increase as well as their eagerness to learn more.
