I think I may have spent to much time exploring in each of these modules toward the end, but I was grateful to be able to do so.  Having students turn one of their core curriculum projects into another medium, is a relevant, real-world lesson.  This framwork based on ethics provides a pause to ensure that students don't simply slap something together because they are more comfortable with these technologies.

I whole heartedly believe that if we can't do actual learning exchanges (or to ensure that all students can participate in exchanges), virtual exchanges can be an excellent way for students to create a product together.  Last spring, our students researched migration flows between two countries of their choice, and then created podcasts that described the push and pull factors, art and literature that addressed the issue, and then created podcasts.  Each group had two students from India, one from Poland, and two from the US.  To prepare students, I had each one take the Strengths Finder test, a business… >>>

This module had so many good resources, especially since they were also connected to our states.  Students are generally interested when they discover things that relate to them, and I think they would be surprised to see that there was 0-as in zero-value placed on international students in our county.  We have had international students, so I am not sure if this is because people recording this information were unaware, or if their presence did not make an economic impact.  Either way, we have some work to do.

Seeing the metrics was eye opening, and I think it will be… >>>

Our business department has build multiple partnerships with local companies that have global ties.  Even so, this module shows areas that we can improve and a comprehensive approach to doing so.

I toured our automotive program, which has a new building, this semester in anticipation of reveiwing the CTE modules for the Asia Society.  i thought the example given here was excellent.  The program is a superstar on our campus with 100% of graduates finding employment and they have shown me the curriculum is inherently global through thier partnerships and universal design elements that must take into account readers of many languages.  You have given me more questions to ask them the next time I see them.

One of the strengths of the UN SDGs is that if you target improving one of them, you will also often improve several others as well.  Inside Bill Gates Brain, on Netflix is a good resourse for the clean water SDG, and IREX has great resources for identifying misinformation (one of the ways that institutions can be destabilized).

Student choice is one of the best was to increase student engagement as well (SAGE)

I have to coach faculty on how to develop their global courses and this gave me ideas on how to do that more effectively, both through planning on their syllabus, and following through to enriching or adding to curriculum.

Discussion Comment

I lead the NC Scholars of Global Distinction certificate for our campus, and can see how this introduction could help many of our CTE teachers communicate the "why" of global education to their students, as well as help administrators see why it is valuable as well.  Equity, diversity and inclusion are educational aims that community colleges are well poised to serve, and your introduction also hits some of our institutional goals like persistence.

Personally, I am interested in the partnerships module and the one on technology and social media as well.
