Incorporating class discussions/presentations into more than participation, but making sure it is fair to all students, even the quiet ones. Which can be done with online discussion groups. 

Using the verb of the outcome/objective is the best way to determine what type of evaluation to use, but brainstorm multiple ways to evaluate, not just written tests.

I plan to spend more time with the students doing and less time "teaching." That way students can demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the subjects we cover versus regurgitating information in a test.
