Your emergency isn't the emergency for someone else if you failed to plan. That works for the students as well as the instructor. Life happens and there will always be the unexpected but creating and executing a lesson plan are two different things. When we create a lesson plan and breakdown our rationale and procedure that help to mitigate the in ability to recover from the unexpected. So having a plan allows you to have the ability to remain flexible and recover quickly when things happen.

Preparation is king especially as a new instructor. Creating a good filing system to keep organized helps both you and your students. Not to mention it provides the rationale for the content and if something isn't clear you have the ability to explain what your thought process was. Also documentation allows for clarity covering you and allowing the PD to have evidence to support or to improve any discrepancy.

Firstly getting to know your class early to gauge where there collective needs are within the content material helps to better prepare you for success. Staying up to date on material and looking for resource to keep the student engaged and elevate there understanding of said material. I enjoyed the instructor mentioning to use outside resources like media or to utilize the universities library to enhance the material.
