I can agree that we should never give up on our students. I find the issue lies in where and when we are coddling students vs. empowering them to stand on their own. I find today that many schools are pressuring instructors to " he;p students along to graduate" or they are focusing on "student success rates" ( i.e.,  we want you to pass the student at all costs or you may not keep your job). I think that ultimately, it is the students responsibility to show up, do the work, and earn the grade.

I found the course helpful. It would be my hope that the school I teach for would be open to using this type of technology and take advantage of the social media that is available.

I found EL 101 to be useful. I have recently worked on writ ting curriculum for some online classes in a program I direct at a career college based here in Florida. I am happy to say that I felt validated by the course. While I may not have followed all of the steps out of the gate, I feel that I pretty much had the right ideas and concepts that led to my course developments. I think that this course would benefit anyone who teaches online.

I just completed EL 102. The course was very good in that it reinforced what we try to practice in our online classrooms were I work. I have heard alot of retoric from schools that "suggest" the proper ways to manage and teach online. I feel this course emobided the Best Practices.

I am the program chair for an online administrative medical assisting program. It is a little more tricky to monitor and recognize some of the issues that we have discussed in ED106. since the students are never in my line of vision, I have to pay closer attention to their responses ( or lack thereof) and to reach out to them as soon as I detect a problem or issue.

When I instruct in the class room, I try to move away from behind the desk or podium unless I have to reference materials. I teach Medical Billing and Coding, and it involves alot of text books and manuals that the students have to work from. I use a "clicker" while lecturing off power point slides so that I can walk among the students. While they are working on class assignments, I try to position myself in the middle of the room so I am easily visible and accesssible.
