It is best to use multiple data sources for revisions. This provides you to make those critical and meaningful changes 

Assessing students not only show what they have learned but what you as a teacher can improve on or what you have taught well.  Rubrics are a great tool to use.  It  helps students know the expectations and how to self assess their work.  It is alos extremely important to provide the student with feedback.

I have learned having a dynamic syllabus allow it to be shared where studnets can access and utilize at any time.  Scafolding is also important it allows studnets to use their prior knowledge and build on that 

The most important thing is making the course consistent.  Students will gain a better understanding and not be as anxious with the consistency.
