Activity

I love the communicating effectively section and resources. I will for sure be using these examples in my work with students.

This section has great resources for the explaining the rationale behind interviews and how to prepare students for different interviewing scenarios.

I enjoyed the activities suggested when creating a student's reference list. This is an excellent tool to use with students!

I've been able to think of ways to assist students in their job searches and getting comfortable expanding their network (and networking abilities.)

Main takeaway: forming relationships with employers is a marathon, not a sprint. Having strong relationships with these folks will also benefit the students in their job searches.

For students, it is important for their resume and reference list to be comprehensive and as thorough as possible.

I learned the importance of having a variety of job searching and networking resources for students. In my current role, I serve students who are conducting specialized job searches within the field of allied health so this lesson has helped me consider their needs.

From this section, I learned the importance of memberships in organization, for the students as well as the career services professionals. This section also reinforced the foundation of a mission statement for a careeer services department.
