Developing rapport and keeping students engaged can significantly help them be involved in the classroom. 

Create a safe environment for students to learn and feel supported. It is also key to have the students feel you are approachable. 

It is important to utilize the knowledge from the student's previous background as well as how to work with an adult learner. 

You should utilize different methods of teaching to allow opportunity for all types of learners to understand the course material. 

Getting to know your students is just as important. Introduce yourself and allow the students to introduce themselves. 

Preparation for class is key. Have a checklist to ensure all topics were covered during a lecture. 

It is important to be a role model for the students. As a professor, one should be professional, engaging, and approachable.
