Students should know their rights under FERPA. During my time at another education institution, I would have parents call asking how their child was doing. I would have to tell them that I cannot discuss their childs academic success with them. Students enrolled in a medical program FERPA is like HIPPA in a hospital. Its important to know what is allowed and not allowed.
To me the best way not to misrepresent the school or any services that the school offers is to always refer to the school catalog. Most questions that a student might have can be found in there. If the catalog doesn't have the answer than just tell the student, I don't know the answer to that question but let me find out.

It's always a good idea to have graduates give their testimonials. At my previous job, I would stay in touch with the graduates. When they became employed I would have them come back to the school and talk with the current students. That way it's a student given postive feedback on the program, which will make the current students tell friends to come check out the school.
I've worked in this industry for 4 years with another company. There was no transparency with the employees or students. People were not doing the right thing and it eventually caught up to them. It's easy to do the right thing when people are looking but the true measurement of a person is when they do the right thing when no one is looking.
