Course revisions must be based on data! These data have to come from multiple sources.

Course revisions are based on the following concept of "closing the loop".

What does it mean to “close the loop”? The strict definition is that the output provides feedback to change the system’s inputs. In the past, planning and assessment have not always complemented each other. Closing the loop means creating effective linkages between planning and assessment of student learning outcomes, to inform and drive the academic learning process.

There are different kinds of assessments, formative and summative. I am most interested in increasing self reflection that leads to self editing. I plan on taking this strategy "

During the review of your assignment/project, provide the following information: 1) make necessary edits, 2) fill out the rubric, and 3) list the main edits made during this review. "   My students need to learn how to review and edit their lab reports and this is a good start.

I learned what a learning-objects database is. It is a repository in which to store files, graphics, audio, video, or any course component that may be used more than once in a course or in several courses.

I learned that it is important to stay organized with students' work and communication. Also, there are still different types of students in the on-line classroom. They range from desirable behaviors to undesirable behaviors. It is still the teacher's responsibility to deal with them.  Effective communication and administrative support helps!

I will mostly use asynchronous discussions because they foster learning and interacting with the content. Synchronous discussions need to be orchestrated and shouldn't focus on learning the content. Also, I need to keep offering constructive but positive feedback to students.

Connecting with students is important and may take different approaches because it is on-line.  One to one interactions do help. Reaching out to each student in the first week of class can set the tone as an involved teacher who is there to help and guide.

I learned that it is important to know how to use the LMS (Canvas). Students need consistency and knowing how to navigate the LMS helps promote confidence and consistency from the instructor-side.  Also posting grades and input in a timely manner helps connect with the students. Interactive lessons help too!
