I think that a lot of the teachers forgot about learning styles during my school years. These topics are a good source to remind all instructors new and old that students aren't robots to just pour information into them. I've worked with students from other countries and instructing some of them was very painstaking but, in the end I felt very proud of them for trying hard and giving me all of their input and time which allowed me to change the message and show and tell until I found the right method to help them all.

Experienced this, it was a very quiet day in the classroom. Maybe taking a class such as this one would have helped me but teaching and learning in the military was a little different. This section has given me some insights which I will use for my next first day of class.

Planning and preparation goes together to have a successful teaching experience. Receiving questions feeds the interest of the class and subject, the topic being discussed.

Knowing how to reach your students and have them to give feedback on what you've talked about is a way to gauge if they are listening to you or not.

This section was very good, and opened my eyes up to the fact that we have a person in the family with a dissablity but when were around him everyone is normal when interacting with him and he always seems to have a good time talking and joking with everyone.

I think that most universities today are well equipped to handle students with the different type of conditions mentioned here. The Americans with Disabilities Act and section 504 are continually being displayed in schools and campuses across the country but with the mental and fiscal disabilities from PTSD; which really isn't new, these have opened a new avenue in disabled care.

Section 504 and the Disabilities Act helped millions of people across the nation become more independent and involved in their own lives. Prior to this people with a disability didn't attend classes as much on their own if at all. Society wasn't ready or had the patience to give aid to those with a disability.

Comment on Loice Collins's post:   That's a good thing, could you imagine all the straight "A" students there might be running around!

In todays world a persons personal information is like gold to certain individuals looking for a score. it's good to know that programs like FERPA are in place to help protect personal information from being stolen and used without the knowledge of an individual.

Title IX has many components to it and must be read very carefully as to really understand how it's implemented. I feel the importance is straight to the point and everyone should be serious and onboard to help stamp out any type of harassment on university campuses and surrounding areas.
