I’ve learned that trauma significantly impact's students’ behavior and learning. Creating a safe, predictable classroom and building trusting relationships are essential. I plan to apply these by being patient, empathetic, and creating a supportive environment.

I learned that trauma affects students’ focus, emotions, and behavior. Trauma-informed teaching means creating a safe, predictable environment and building trust. I plan to use clear routines, empathy, and social-emotional support to help students feel secure and succeed. My classroom is open for all students as a safe space.  

I learned that CTE teaching now focuses on hands-on projects, real-world skills, and using technology. I plan to connect lessons to careers and bring in guest speakers to keep learning relevant.

I learned that students have different learning styles and needs. As a new CTE teacher, I’ll use varied teaching methods, build relationships, and work with support staff to help all students succeed. 

I’ve learned that curriculum planning is about creating a structured path for student learning that aligns with standards, industry needs, and student goals. In CTE, this means blending academic content with hands-on skills that prepare students for real careers.

Student assessment is key to tracking progress and guiding instruction. I’ve learned to use both formative and summative assessments, especially hands-on tasks in CTE. I plan to give regular feedback and use results to adjust lessons and support student growth. 

I’ve learned that this helps students stay focused and succeed, especially in hands-on CTE classes. I plan to use backward planning—starting with what I want students to learn, then building lessons and assessments around those goals. 

I’ve learned that students succeed when they feel safe, respected, and supported. As a new CTE teacher, I’ll set clear expectations, build strong relationships, and create a welcoming classroom space. Positive reinforcement and consistency will be key.

As a new CTE teacher, I’ve learned that engagement starts with making learning relevant with hands-on skills. Set the stage and gain students respect.  Have clear understanding of what is expected and safe while using real-world projects.  Give students choices, and build strong relationships. Active learning and regular feedback will be key.

I learned that having a mentor is very beneficial for resources and information.  Having someone to go over the organization of the classroom and lab settings, and procedures.  I plan to apply this by communicating with mentors and other teachers and administration colleagues, asking questions, setting routines, and reinforcing safety to support a smooth learning environment.
