About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi Kim, I use this method whenever I introduce the assignment. I have found that it does create excitement at the beginning, but they forget a lot of what to do when it is time. It has been more effective for my students to have an introduction when I introduce the assignment. Patricia

Hi Ed, You are right! Students need to understand protocol. When complaints arise, this is the perfect opportunity to explain protocol. I share with my students in job search class that anytime they have a concern with someone, speak with that person first, and if things are not resolved then go to their supervisor, and follow the chain of command accordingly. Hi John, Students have a different sense of respect for you whenever you maintain professionalism. First and foremost, the student does not want to disappoint the instructor. The student will work extremely hard to succeed. The student tend to have a nonchalant attitude whenever they have been befriended by the instructor. Patricia
