About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi Ob, That is is not the best thing to do, to be apologetic about the boring class. The instructor needs to start on Day 1 trying to make the class as exciting as possible. The excitement must first start with the instructor. Excitement is a trickle down effect. Patricia

Hi Gail, You are absolutely correct. Letting students know you are a first-time instructor is sharing too much information. Students are looking for you to mess up when this is made known to them. You give a lot of ammunition when this is revealed; students will examine you closely. Patricia
