About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Willis, I let my students know that knowledge is power. Knowledge also makes you extremely marketable. Patricia
Hi Willis, Students can quickly tell when you have a love for the profession/subject. Excitement shows from the instructor, which in turn rubs off on the students. Patricia
Hi Diana, Venting and listening are important! When these things are done, the situation becomes a lot easier to deal with. Patricia
Hi Margilane, Great tactics to reduce cheating. I simply let my students know that they are being watched. Patricia
Hi Clifton, It is important to involve silent students. I like giving them responsibility so that they can take an active role. Patricia
Hi Richard, It is important to keep students encouraged! It is a lot easier to generate great excitement whenever the students come in with an interest in the subject matter. Patricia
Hi Francis, A judgement call should be made based on the circumstance; it should not be made on whether you like or dislike the student. I know this happens, but it is so unfair. Patricia
Hi Gregory, Variety is good! This generation of students get really interested whenever technology is involved. I also like talking about the money they will make every opportunity I get to generate excitement. Patricia
Hi Marien, Normally it is an outside source. Our students have a lot going on. Listening is key. Patricia
Hi B., I teach Professional Development, and my students are required to dress every Thursday as if they are going to an interview. I participate and dress every Thursday as if I am going to an interview. It is very important to lead by example. Patricia
