About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Roger, We must treat our students like adults. Yelling does not work well in this industry. Listen/talk to get positive results. Patricia
Hi Francis, Mixture is good. I love the use of a question/answer session. The session keeps students on their toes. Patricia
Hi James, Preparation is key. Cheating is minimized if a student feels they have been thoroughly prepared for a test. Patricia
Hi Annette, We must let students know that we can about their success. One of my favorite quotes is "A student does not care how much you know, until they know how much you care." Patricia
Hi Annette, We have to be our students biggest cheerleaders, but we must maintain our professionalism. Patricia
Hi Kelli, Yes, you have to shoot from a different direction. Your professionalism comes through via communicating by computer. Patricia
Hi Jody, Breaks are important. We want to work them hard, but we need to play hard as well. You get more from students by giving them small breaks. Patricia
Hi Emily, Students should not be allowed to cross the line. Boundaries must be established. Each person has a role. The student needs to stay in their place. Patricia
Hi Susan, I like the idea of the bell ringer. How do you use it to capture attention? I am just thinking, simply ring it. Patricia
Hi Cicely, It is very easy and so convenient. You can even save different versions under different names. What was life like without computers? Patricia
