About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi Shannon, It is very important that the work area is free of ALL items, even cell phones. Patricia
Hi Rachel, Students are elated whenever they fully understand how the skill to be learned will be applicable in the work place. Patricia
Hi Kevin, It is a good thing to change tests on a regular basis because they do grow legs. Patricia
Hi Edwin, A whole lot to cover in 8 months. It sounds as though you do an exceptional job preparing your students. I bet you really have to teach to the test to get them ready. Patricia
Hi Tula, You know what it takes to be a true medical professional. Thanks for making students the very best that they can be. Patricia
Hi Lori, Games are a great teaching method. There is nothing like having fun and learning. Big people like prizes too. Patricia
Hi Sandy, What an exciting feel. Your students come in excited and sold. You do not have to convince them about the course; the eagerness is there. Continue to be an exciting and motivating instructor. I can feel your enthusiasm in this response. Patricia
Hi Guy, Once students learn that you do not stick to your guns, they will try you and will take advantage of you. Patricia
Hi Nancy, Students must understand the importance of deadlines whether it is classroom submission or electronic submission. Deadlines are in place to be adhered, and students should be reprimanded if these deadlines are not met. In the real world one can lose their job for not meeting deadlines. Patricia
Hi Edwin, Great way to deal with this type of student. It only becomes an issue if the instructors makes it an issue, don't let them see you sweat. These type students need to focus on becoming a better student instead of trying to prove us wrong. Patricia
