About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi James, Excitement shown from the instructor is a must because excitement should start at the top. Students should not be able to tell that you do not care to teach a particular class. Patricia
Hi Billie, I can tell you believe in giving your students your very best! This is simply what we all should strive to do daily! Patricia
Hi Gregory, I teach MS Access as well as, and I use the same example. Great example to use in the subject matter because students get it; it is so practical. Patricia
Hi Craig, They get your drift! I am sure this speil is just as effective. You are definitely taking more of a positive approach. Patricia
Hi Karen, Super response! You are right, our students have a ton of problems. Some problems are beyond our scope, therefore we need to refer them to experts in the various areas. Patricia
Hi Troy, Great idea! Integrity is certainly a must in the workplace. I also like to talk about ethics as well as it relates to honesty. Patricia
Hi Amanda, I concur! What I have noticed is that if I use a very calm and positive demeanor when explaining the changes, the students tend to not get upset. It really is all in the presentation. Patricia
Hi Jan, Students really are encouraged by seeing examples. It truly gives them a great sense of motivation. Patricia
Hi Janet, Seeing is believing! Examples serve as a great confidence booster as well...they get the feeling, I can do this. Patricia
Hi James, This is certainly true with Generation Y. They are used to everything happening extremely quickly. Patricia
