About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Evelyn, Separating students is a good practice to follow when students are testing. This certainly helps keep students out of trouble. Patricia
Hi Jennifer, What an awesome mixture to have fun while learning! Students retain more if they are having fun while learning, according to studies. Patricia
Hi Cyndi, I like how you try to include the students' interests in your lectures. Students like it when you give them a very personal touch; a connection is established. Patricia
Hi Lisa, I am sure this successful graduate guest speaker is very inspiring to the current students. Students can definitely relate to those who have struggled, yet are doing well. Patricia
Hi Cheryl, The instructor definitely sets the tone for the class. Students will emulate us as instructors either professional or nonprofessional behavior. Patricia
Hi Alexander, Students become really interested and excited when we make theory applicable to practical applications in field. Patricia
Hi Steve, You certainly do a great job of putting this responsibility back on the student. I am sure you get their attention and get your point across. You grabbed my attention based on your response. Continue to raise the bar! I firmly believe you get from students what you expect. Patricia
Hi Kevin, Awesome response! You made some great points! Our students can certainly tell if we are faking it to make it. Faking it will cause students to lose all respect for you. Patricia
Hi Matthew, Awesome response! I agree 100%. I have seen where some instructors became so consumed with their students' issues they really did burn out quickly and ended up leaving the profession. You have to know where to draw the line. Life happens with us all. Patricia
Hi Jennifer, This is a great activity. The acitivity has multipurposes. I really like how students get a chance to stand based on their beliefs and there is no right or wrong answer, therefore everyone feels more comfortable participating. Patricia
