About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Susan, Preparation is at the top of the list. You also want to make a strong presence and walk into the room with great confidence. Patricia
Hi Kevin, Absolutely! Students like knowing that they can benefit from the material and/or personally/professionally. Patricia
Hi Denise, The idea of making math applicabe to real life experiences works. Students get it if we can make it applicable to life. Patricia
Hi Yaima, Students must be fully monitored during test time so that they know that they are being watched. Patricia
Hi William, I like the idea of self assessments and peer review tools. Some students are very candid with their responses, and they will admit when they have not pulled their weight or if their partner have not pulled their weight. Patricia
Hi Samuel, This is a great way for students to express what is expected of them and for you to examine if students fully know what is required of them. Patricia
Hi Rick, That's right, I do not care how intelligent you are, you still do not know it all. Utilize your resources and find answers to unknown questions. Patricia
Hi Tessie, I agree! Preparation is key! Preparation will put you at ease and will give you mega confidence. Patricia
Hi Sonja, When students understand how the course applies to the real world, they take more of an interest in the course...they buy in to the course. Patricia
Hi Rene, I concur! Students look at you differently when they regard you as being a role model and a professional. A sense of respect is granted to you when students see you as their leader. Patricia
