About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Abigail, Students really become interested when they know how they can utilize class information professionally as well as personally. Patricia
Hi Kelly, Students become real interested once they know what they are learning will definitely be applied in the workplace. Patricia
Hi Meagan, When we do a great job of providing clarity to our students about what is expected of them and due dates as they pertain to various assignments, we do our due diligence and students cannot play the card "I did not know" card. Patricia
Hi Shantel, Guest speakers help make what students think is IMPOSSIBLE, POSSIBLE. Guest speakers are very inspiring. Patricia
Hi Alvin, Students tend to get really excited after hearing a guest speaker. The guest speaker lets them know If I did it, so can you. Patricia
Hi Deborah, I agree! Most of the time, the angry student simply needs to vent. Patricia
Hi Amy, I agree! Our students need to know that we care, and we want to help them, and they can come to talk to us about anything, and we will listen. Let the students know that the information will be kept confidential. Patricia
Hi Michelle, That's right! When you catch someone cheating and they are reprimanded, it makes others think about cheating twice. Some times we have to make sacrificial lambs out of students so that others know that this type of behavior will not be tolerated. Patricia
Hi Peter, I am always bothered by those instructors who do not care anything about their appearance. When you look good, you feel good. I get up plenty early enough to much sure I am well put together. Students judge our appearance. Patricia
Hi Mohammed, Students love practical work as it pertains to the real world. We must allow our students to practice in the classroom based on what they will encounter in the real world. Patricia
