About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Daniel, Students will take assignments for a joke if you do not follow up. Patricia Scales
Hi Judith, You are very thorough with making your requirements clear. Your students can't say that they did not know. You cover a lot of ground in ensuring clarity. Patricia Scales
Hi Gisele, I concur! Students love the one-on-one attention. Each student is important, and they should be made to feel that way. Patricia Scales
Hi Jered, Following up is key! As an instructor, you should want to know if your students are grasping the material or not. Patricia Scales
Hi Jered, You have an impressive list. I use a lot of the tactics you use. Variety is key. I also like to use a lot of visual to capture students attention. Patricia Scales
Hi Vickey, Students get overwhelmed easily, and I like the idea of explaining a concept and then letting the student participate. Most our students absorb information better when it is broken up into smaller pieces. Patricia Scales
Hi Cameron, Students tend to enjoy lecture/hands-on teaching because they know they must pay attention to the lecture so that they will know how to perform when it is their turn. Students love hand-on activities as well. Patricia Scales
Hi Lesa, Preparation is a must, and everyone enjoys a good laugh. Patricia Scales
Hi Cynthia, You are definitley on point! It should be obvious in the room who the teacher is. We need to make a daily impression as professionals to our students. Patricia Scales
Hi Vanessa, I agree! No one likes boredom. Part of being an effective teacher is to be creative as well. Patricia Scales
