About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hello Misty, Students want to know up front what is expected of them. You are right, we can reduce complaints and challenges by giving clear expectations. Patricia
Hi William, You are on point. Wow, it is scary, you and I think so much alike. Patricia
Hello Misty, Honesty is the best policy. I use to sugar coat things with students when I first started teaching 19 years ago. Now I shoot straight from the hip with my students because I have found that honesty is the best policy, call like you see it, good or bad. Patricia
Hi Misty, Students want to know the "WIFM". Once students understand the "WIFM", they generally do what it takes to be successful. Patricia
Hi Kris, Students love it when you include real world examples. They are so interested, they sit on your tonsils. :-) Patricia
Hi Louis, Wow, you're right, we are entertainers. We must perform to sell them on coming back the next day. Continue to stay lively and upbeat! Patricia
Hi Wayne, Many times a lot of the students' problems are not school related. Many of our students have a lot of personal problems. We have to help them learn how to seperate personal from school because on the job, you have to seperate personal from work. Patricia
Hi William, We must keep a close watch on all students, especially struggling students. Continue to let your students know you really care. I can tell you are a caring instructor. Patricia
Hi Anthony, Nicely said. What great ways to use to get students interested and involved. Patricia
Hi William. I can tell you put a lot of time in getting prepared and making sure your students succeed and fully understand everything. I like the idea of the class information sheet that goes into more details. Patricia
