About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi Patrick, You've said it all. Students are definitely interested in the points you have mentioned. You can capture students' attention by letting them know how the course will benefit them in the workplace. Patricia
Hi Thomas, You are on point. Just as sure as we are human, we are going to make mistakes. No one knows it all. Admit that you don't know, but give it your best shot to find the answer. Don't try to cover up by making up information. Patricia
Hello Vivian, Again, you are so on point. Rapport building is extremely important in the education setting. Patricia
Hi Judy, Wow, it amazes me to find out how much you and I have in common when it comes to teaching. You remind me so much of myself. Keep up the great work! I bet you are an awesome instructor! Patricia
Hi Vivian, I've experienced getting to know most of my students on a personal level based on my 20-year tenure. You are absolutely correct, when you get to know them personally, it makes them feel as though you care about them. Continue to be a caring instructor! Patricia
Hi Judy, I can tell you care about your students' success. Remember, if you make a positive difference in one student's life, you've made an impact. Continue to shine as an educator! Patricia
Hi Vivian, What a way to take students under your wing. Continue to guide your students by teaching them study and organizational skills. These students will always remember you as getting them on track. Patricia
Hi Abundio, What a way to nip the center stage student in the bud. You put a stop to things immediately. I too believe in not letting this type student control my class, you must end the nonsense. Continue to maintain full control of your class. Patricia
Hi Brian, What an exciting way to get your students involved and interested. Students really feed off of "Real World" applications. The "Real World" applications give students a better understanding of it all. Patricia
Hi Joshula, Sometimes understanding your students background really put things in perspective. I like to learn about my students as well. Patricia
