About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi David, Students enjoy the hands-on experience of any course. I strongly encourage to take full advantage of teaching using a hands-on approach anytime it can be done. Patricia
Hi Linda, I wonder truly how much of a disservice this private school teacher did to these two ladies. The real world is not geared for your supervisor to sit between to employees and guide them along the way....not happening. Patricia
Hello Leonard, Trust is key. Whenever your students trust you, they want to make you proud of them, and they will try everything in their power to be successful. The student works hard at not disappointing not only themselves, but you, as the instructor whom they trust fully. Patricia
Hi Leonard, I've found that you don't have older folks as being unfocused in the classroom. Older folks are a lot more wiser and mature. They fully understand the importance of a higher education. Patricia
Hello Darryl, Class discussions can be an effective way to reduce complaints and challenges as long as you, the instructor, remain in full control, and you do not let things get out of hand. I've seen both extremes, when the instructor controlled the setting, and when the instructor had no control and things got way out of control..bad situation. Patricia
Hi Darryl, I chuckled when I read your response. I had a techer that every time she taught a new course, she would do a "play by play." She said it made her more comfortable when she actually had to lecture to her students. Patricia
Hi David, It sounds like you are really prepared for your lectures. Keep up the good work! It is better to have too much information than to not have enough information. Patricia
Hi Leonard, Have you had any older students that appeared unfocused, and if so how did you handle them? Patricia
Hi Leonard, It appears you have dealing with challenging students under control. Have these strategies always worked for you. Patricia
Hi Bryan, What a nice icebreaker for the first day. Your activity is mutlipurpose. What a clever idea! Patricia
