About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi Detra, The highlighting makes things stand out and some students need this. Patricia
Hi Detra, Most of the time students will not read the syllabus on their own will. This ensures reading and understanding. Patricia
Hello Detra, Not silly at all! I do this from time to time too. Patricia
Hi Darla, I love sharing examples with my students. Seeing is believing. Patricia
Hello Darla, For unmotivated students sometimes failing can be a big eye opener that causes students to realize you are not going to be given anything. You must work for what you want. Patricia
Hi Laura, My child is in honors biology, and the instructor normally includes a rubric or at the least instructions. I believe firmly that students need guidance. Patricia
Hi Heather, I feel as though based on your comment you are a truly fair instructor. I agree solely with your response. Patricia
Hi James, This is a super rapport building exercise. I can see how this can be helpful to you as well as to the students. Patricia
Hello Chunan, What do these things have to do with challenging students? Patricia
Hi Chunan, Are you saying students who do not communicate are challenging? Patricia
